Award winning artist, Rick Schneider has been practicing his woodworking art in western Vermont for over twenty-five years. He designs and builds world class, custom one of a kind and limited edition pieces. In each piece the client’s functional needs are combined with their sense of style, design, and taste. The finished unique piece reflects the owners vision, values and very heart and soul.
Rick’s extensive body of work includes architectural woodworking, finished cabinetry, fine furniture and sculpture.
Rick has been exhibiting fine furniture pieces and staircases in galleries and shows throughout the Northeast. His staircases have appeared in publications that include Architectural Digest, American Craft Magazine, the New York Times, and the Burlington Free Press. In 1984, Rick received first prize in the architectural category for a grand tapering spiral staircase on exhibit at the show "The Woodworker" in Philadelphia. He has appeared on the Discovery Channel with Lynette Jennings, Design in a 1998 interview when he demonstrated his spiral staircase technique from his Bristol, Vermont workshop. In May of 2002 Rick was filmed again for an episode of Modern Masters with Lynette Jennings that aired on HGTV (Home and Garden TV) in the Fall of 2003.
Ricks work has taken him in many interesting directions. During the Winter of 1985, he helped carve a major wooden sculpture of a phoenix for the Garden State Racetrack in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. In 1986, Rick carved all the forms used to restore the ceiling of the Executive Chambers in the Vermont State House. Then, during the Fall of 1992, he worked on the restoration of an elegant sugar plantation house in Barbados. He has created many prototype sculptures while giving form to other people’s design visions These diverse experiences have added to the breath of Rick’s woodworking knowledge and skills. Wood and woodworking are a passion for Rick, and he enjoys the journey of artistic discovery he completes with each and every lucky client he works with.

Rick Schneider specializes in bringing clients ideas and passions to life through sculpture. The dog at left was carved to memorialize a clien'ts pet who was aging after a long life of loyalty and service. The bench was crafted for a family whose passion was gardening, particularly with lilys. The shrimp bowl was carved for a seafood lover. What is your passion? Your partner's? Your child's?
