This solid wood end table is crafted from the harvest of an historically significant 150 year old ancient Vermont maple tree that had to be taken down for safety reasons. The owner of this tree, Joe Famolare was determined to honor its history and preserve its legend. He has since worked wtih Vermont Woods Studios to build unique fine wooden furniture items that will carry on the trees legacy for generations to come.

The leaves inlaid into the top of this end table are exact replicas of the ancient maple tree's leaves. Along with the landscape and moon, they have been inlaid into the end table by marquetry artist, T. Breeze Verdant

Craftsman, Ken Farabaugh used traditional mortise and tenon joinery techniques to create this historically significant heirloom quality end table that will last a lifetime. The wavy, curly and striped grains on this end table are striking and pay tribute to the character of the 150 year old tree it was harvested from. Ken has applied a clear, durable, hand-rubbed finish that highlights the natural color and grain of the wood and is resistant to moisture and sunlight.

Ancient trees are rich in character, providing exotic grain patterns which often include tiger stripes, curls, waves and spalding. Even though a trees limbs may be suffering from decay, in most cases there is plenty of first quality lumber available for creating solid wood furniture heirlooms.
