We, along with a number of visionary leaders in our industry see the enormous impact that furniture makers have on the future of the forest and on global warming. For example, did you know that up to 90% of imported furniture and flooring grade wood is illegally harvested, mainly from endangered tropical rainforests? Recently we helped found the Sustainable Furniture Council, SFC an industry group that is committed to promoting furniture that is produced in an environmentally and socially responsible way. When using tropical woods such as mahogany we are careful to use only that which has been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, FSC as being harvested from a well managed forest.
